BMW E28 535i "Rusty" 1989-Graphite by TarcDnB BMW E28 535i "Rusty" 1989-Graphite by TarcDnB
Click for full view please!

This was Mike Burrough's famous(?) BMW, "Rusty".

Graphite drawing on A4.

Made with:
- Mars Lumograph 2B,4B,
- Mechanical pencil 0.3mm,
- Graphite powder,
- Kneaded eraser,
- Blending stump, tissues, cotton wool.
On A4 D&R HeavyWeight 220gsm paper.

Time spent: around 25 hours.

Note:
I've used no other tools to help e.g ruler, or any guide, (for the wall for example, which took me 9-10 hours alone)

Other stats:
- The wall on the right has some ~800 bricks or so.

Thanks for any feedback!

Detail shot:
/soon/

Great job on the smoothing in front of the car. The brick behind the BMW is amazing. The wheels are also stellar! This is a great drawing. :)

I am very surprised by the level of detail and shading in this drawing, and I think that this is a perfect balance for that peice. I also like how the burred front and highly detailed wall kinda draws the eye to the car and back. This is very well done.

Oh wow thank you, that's what I secretely hoped for, that someone would point out/notice that the foreground is meant to draw the eye further up then flood you with the level of details so you don't know where to look at first.
Thanks, I'm glad the foreground received such positive feedback as opposed to: it's not detailed enough; although I used the reference photo as it was (did not crop it etc) I purposely made that "contrast" of the upper half vs bottom half.

Thanks again!

Thank you so much, it's nice to be appreciated for your efforts. When I started drawing it, it all seemed like a big black blob, I didn't know if it was going to become as I expected :) (it did)
thx again

Yeah sometimes it that happens to me too, but I think when we start to see the work going well we become more optimistic about the piece!

My last car though, at least for a while.
I'm about to finish 2 more drawings and already started another, it's already presentable but I'll add more to it.
This week I'm having a frame-shopping-frenzy. I may be moving out so I need to protect them and can't postpone getting frames any more :)

Of course, I know it must get old to continually hear how great I think you are at this lol. I'm sad to hear that, but I know you always come up with great stuff.
I wish I drew as much as you... I just can't find the time. I'm already back in my apartment and working the desk again. Classes will start soon and I'm not excited!
Hahaha yes protect your children! So much seems to be happening and I never get to get on anymore. I'm sorry about that

It doesn't get old at all, it's very nice to hear every time :)
Although I know it's hard to say something new every time - which you don't have to really; I remember one time your reaction on MSN was .... "I'm speechless" and that was worth a thousand words !

And you should draw, too. An hour every now and then... gradually you'll get the excitement of drawing back

It is increasingly difficult to come up with good things to say every time, but I'm glad you don't tire of it. It is so cool to see how you have taken art seriously and your talent grow. Though I wish I had some of that talent lol.

Yeahh, I just haven't felt the inspiration. Sucks

Thanks for the nice words,
you've talent... why say that! You've only got a few drawings, which is good because it means all you have to do is practice more. Or... actualy, just practice some at least:D

Btw there are two more uploaded stuff by now if you care to look at them!

Ah, the details in this is amazing, and I love the angle! Also, I like the gloomy atmosphere. :) One thing that bothers me though is that the left bricks look like they're peeling off, I think because the edges aren't aligned. This is still fantastic work though! :D
